About

Political Asylum is a topical, political standup show, featuring some of the best political comedians in Australia. It takes place on the second Sunday of every month at The Brunswick Green in Melbourne. There are also irregular special shows during festivals such as the Melbourne Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

A core group of contributors deliver brand new topical standup, alongside stellar guest standup spots delivered by some of Australia's funniest people. Guidelines for performers are simple - Political Asylum is the place for intelligent, topical, political humour.

Political Asylum is currently produced on behalf of the group by Simon Barber, Toby Halligan and Mathew Kenneally. It was co-founded in 2009 by Mathew Kenneally and Courteney Hocking.
